Sensitive, Strong, Unstoppable: Cancer Season and the Chariot

June 28, 2025 by Lisa

The Chariot, a major arcana tarot cardAs we enter Cancer season, the Sun shifts into the zodiac's most tender, intuitive sign - one that often gets misunderstood as soft or overly emotional. But if we look to Cancer's tarot counterpart, The Chariot, we uncover a deeper truth: Cancer energy is not weak. It is resilient, protective, and unstoppably determined when aligned with purpose. Let’s explore how The Chariot illuminates the path forward during Cancer season and how you can harness its energy in your own life.

Why is Cancer Linked to The Chariot?

In the symbolic system developed by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, each tarot card in the Major Arcana is paired with a zodiac sign, planet, or elemental force. The Chariot, card VII, is assigned to Cancer, the cardinal water sign ruled by the Moon.

At first glance, this may seem like an odd pairing. The Chariot is armored and forward-charging. Cancer is sensitive and inward-turning. But when you dig deeper, the relationship becomes beautifully clear.

Armor Over a Soft Heart

Both The Chariot and Cancer understand the power of protection. Cancer carries a shell, not to hide, but to survive and thrive in a world that doesn’t always honor emotional depth. Similarly, the Charioteer wears armor...not to dominate, but to stay centered on the mission. Cancer teaches us that being soft is not the opposite of strength. It is the root of it.

Cancer Season Affirmation: "My sensitivity is not a weakness. It is my compass."

Inner Guidance and Outer Movement

Image for blog post on Cancer and The ChariotCancer is ruled by the Moon, the luminary of cycles, intuition, and the subconscious. And though The Chariot moves forward with determination, it does so not from brute force, but from inner alignment.

In the traditional Rider Waite Smith version, the Charioteer holds no reins. The two sphinxes symbolize opposing forces - emotion and reason, shadow and light - and the driver steers them using only willpower and clarity of purpose.

Guided by Heart — A Cancer Season Tarot Spread

Cancer season invites a pause for reflection. Below is a spread designed to help you tune into your intuition and clarify your emotional direction just like The Chariot steers its course from within.

  1. My current emotional state – What’s rising within me right now?
  2. What needs protecting – Where do I need boundaries or shelter?
  3. My guiding intuition – What inner truth is ready to lead the way?
  4. Obstacle on the path – What may slow or sidetrack my progress?
  5. The armor I need – How can I support and protect myself?
  6. Where I’m headed – What direction is my heart truly pulling me toward?

Final Thoughts: Lead with Heart

Cancer and The Chariot remind us that forward motion doesn't require perfection, it requires purpose. You don’t need to bulldoze your emotions to make progress. You can move with feeling, with softness, with care.

So this Cancer season, let The Chariot be your guide, not just toward achievement, but toward wholeness. Let your sensitivity be your superpower, and your intuition the reins that carry you home to yourself.

Gemini & the Tarot: Dancing with Duality

May 24, 2025 by Lisa

Gemini, ruled by Mercury, is the cosmic messenger - curious, quick-thinking, and eternally in motion. Born under the sign of the Twins, Gemini is a master of duality: the inner and outer voice, the seen and unseen, the rational and the imaginative. And in the tarot, no number captures this dance of duality better than two.

The four twos of the minor arcana all offer unique windows into the Gemini experience. Each card represents a different suit and element, yet all echo the themes of tension, choice, balance, and potential that define Gemini energy.

Two of Swords - The Mental Crossroads

Two of Swords from tarot minor arcanaIn this card, a blindfolded figure holds two crossed swords, symbolizing mental stalemate and decision avoidance. Gemini’s mind is its gift and its trap. Overthinking, overanalyzing, and seeing all sides can leave Gemini stuck. The Two of Swords reveals what happens when thinking spirals and clarity is blocked.

Tarot Wisdom: When thoughts become tangled, pause. Logic alone won’t lead the way. Sometimes clarity comes only after silence.

Two of Wands - The Choice to Expand

Two of Wands from tarot minor arcanaHere we see a person holding a globe, gazing out over a landscape. The world is calling, but action is required. This is the moment Gemini comes alive sparked by vision and fueled by possibility. The Two of Wands is Gemini’s adventurous side: dreaming, planning, exploring. But planning must become doing.

Tarot Wisdom: Curiosity is only useful when followed. Choose a path and step forward, even if the outcome isn’t guaranteed.

Two of Cups - The Mirror of Connection

Two of Cups from tarot minor arcanaTwo figures share cups, symbolizing partnership, harmony, and emotional exchange. Though often labeled “head over heart,” Gemini has a deep desire to connect through conversation, shared ideas, and soul-to-soul dialogue. The Two of Cups reflects Gemini’s craving for a mind that meets theirs, and a heart that understands their many layers.

Tarot Wisdom: True connection isn’t just chemistry, it’s also about communication. Speak from the heart, not just the head.

Two of Pentacles - The Juggler

Two of Pentacles from tarot minor arcanaA figure dances while balancing two pentacles, encircled by the infinity symbol. Life is a performance of balance: work and play, money and time, inner and outer responsibilities. Gemini thrives in the hustle of multitasking, networking, spinning multiple plates. But this card cautions: balance isn’t busyness; it’s sustainability.

Tarot Wisdom: You can do many things, but maybe not all at once. Prioritize your energy or risk burnout.

Gemini Lives in the Land of Possibility....

....always one step ahead, always thinking in pairs. The Twos of Tarot reflect this beautifully: a sign torn between options, thrilled by the unknown, and gifted with the power to hold contradictions gracefully.

During Gemini season, let the Tarot remind you: it's okay to live in the in-between, as long as you stay grounded in intention. You don’t have to choose between mind or heart, thought or action. You just need to stay present with both.

Gemini Season Tarot Spread - The Power of Two

Use this spread during Gemini season (or anytime you're struggling with decision making, duality, or balance). Each card position draws from the energy of one of the Twos in the tarot. To get started, pull out each Two and lay them face up. Pull a card for each one according to the spread below:

Two of Swords – What am I overthinking or avoiding?
This card reveals a decision or truth you're not seeing clearly. What are you resisting or refusing to confront? What needs clarity or stillness?

Two of Pentacles – Where in my life am I juggling too much?
This position highlights what you’re trying to balance — and whether it’s sustainable. What needs simplification or reprioritization?

Two of Wands – Where am I being called to take action?
This card asks: What dream or idea needs bold movement? What plans are ready to leave the “vision” phase and become real?

Two of Cups – Where can I deepen connection?
This final card explores partnership, emotional balance, or self-love. Where is there potential for deeper understanding, honest conversation, or soulful union?
